Held Together By Tape and Glue

Sunshine-Rain

I would like to dedicate this post to all the chronic pain warriors and “spoonies” out there.

Year after year, my body seems to deteriorate. And I find myself in a continuous battle of mental strength versus physical symptoms.

One of the most difficult things about having a chronic illness is learning that you are actually “sicker” than you realized.

In 2015, I underwent my 4th laparoscopic surgery for Endometriosis, lost 10 pounds of baby weight, came off unnecessary medications, was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis, discovered the benefits of yoga, began a journey in wellness, and despite all of my changes… I became sicker with immune system issues.

Every morning, I wake up with back pain so deep that I’m frequently unable to bend at the waist until my medication takes effect. I pray that only a few symptoms arise that particular day, because if they all happen at once… it would be unbearable (not that it hasn’t happened before).

Sometimes it feels like I’m being held together by tape and glue.

Even with my recent health changes, I found that my body was experiencing immune system issues. I had developed an odd rash under my eyes, autoimmune related lesions, chronic bladder infections and more. My body has been taking a beating and I am at the point of trying anything just to feel well again.

Despite the challenges we all face each day, I know that I’m better because of it. Without these challenges and terribly frustrating symptoms, I wouldn’t have developed character, perseverance, and determination.

I use my illness as a driving force to be the best version of my self. Because at the end of the day – I will surprise or impress myself and, maybe even, others.

My hope and prayer for you is that you’ll stand up to your chronic illness or pain. Face it and tell it who’s boss! Do not let it defeat you. Try and try again.

Wishing you all a very happy and HEALTHY New Year! 🙂
